Advising

Highland advisors are here to help as a key resource — whether you plan on transferring to a four-year institution after Highland, jump-starting your trade, or completing a degree or certificate.

Your advisor will help you:

  • Choose a field of study.
  • Develop an academic plan.
  • Explore transfer schools.
  • Register for classes.
  • Check the completion status of a degree or certificate.
  • Connect you to campus and community resources.
  • Explain academic policies and procedures.
  • Discuss any concerns you have about your education.

Student Advisor offices are located on the first floor of the Student/Conference Center (building H). We’re available Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters, Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. during the summer or after 5 p.m. by appointment. Advisors can meet face-to-face, virtually or via phone. For an appointment, call 815-599-3573.

Veterans and current military personnel may receive specialized assistance from the Veterans Coordinator, who is also a Student Advisor.

Meet our Advisors

Like most collegiate systems, the Highland student advisors are specialists in particular program areas, but they are also cross-trained. So, any advisor can answer questions about transferring, articulation, and other queries related to any field of study.
