History
The history program is designed for the student who is interested in how humans have made decisions, treated each other under the pressure of circumstances, and considered how the decisions of the past have shaped the present. The program’s emphasis is on United States and European history. Courses are also offered in contemporary Africa, and the Middle East. This program is designed for the student who intends to pursue a baccalaureate degree in history.
Political Science
The political science program provides a thorough introduction to all fields of political science, stressing governing systems, state and local government, public policy, the electoral process, foreign policy, and international relations. Opportunities are provided for participation in political campaigns. Outside speakers, including foreign visitors, enhance course content. The HCC program is designed for students who intend to pursue a baccalaureate degree in political science. This field is also a typical prelaw major.
